Motherhood Made Easier

DO LESS. LIVE MORE.

In honor of Mother's Day, I'm making this a short post--so I can put away my computer and curl up with a good book (somehow, a laptop just isn't as cozy). But for all mothers out there, I thought I'd share a few products that make my life easier. In general, I'm kind of a minimalist, so shopping isn't really my thing. Nevertheless, the inventions below have helped me to streamline my life just a bit so there's more time for the fun stuff.

Hair Straightening Brush

To be perfectly honest, I've really streamlined my hair doing process by...you guessed it, not doing it at all. But for a while, I was still hanging on to the idea. The FemJolie hair straightening brush is the jam for people who still do their hair. This thing heats up sooooo fast. It's almost like they made it for busy, harried moms (get it? harried). Unlike normal straighteners, you don't have to worry about putting small pieces of hair into the device and painstakingly ironing your hair one lock at a time. This tool is literally a brush. You brush your bed head, and voila, it's straightened. I looked for this on Amazon and it looks like they no longer carry the model I purchased. If I had to guess, I'd say that either this product burned people's houses down or it's the first sign that the Handmaid's Tale is a true story about the future.

Krups Hard-boiled Egg Maker

I know what you're thinking. Hard boiling eggs isn't exactly baking a souffle. Is this a thing we really need to make easier? My answer is yes. EVERYTHING can be made a little easier. This tool basically steams eggs (set it and forget it), up to seven at a time, in soft, medium and hard consistencies. My only gripe is that the buzzer, indicating the eggs are done, is REAL loud and the children screaming in my house are already really loud and it's apparently frowned upon to walk through your life with giant headphones on. Still totally worth it.

Eufy Robo-Vac

"Gufy" is like a little pet in our house. He alternately fascinates and terrorizes my children. My dog regards him as a nuisance. I regard him as my knight in shining armor. The only reason my house ever looks even close to clean at any given time is (1) my OCD and (2) this contraption. Dead easy.

Audible

Not exactly revolutionary, I know, but if you like to read and you haven't signed up for Audible yet, you should. All that time in the car suddenly becomes leisure time when you're listening to a good book.

And speaking of good books...Pardon me while I cozy up with a fluffy blanket, a cozy mystery, and no one but myself.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all those mothering, trying to become mothers, or in general putting their love and hard work into the world to support others. Special, special love to those who have lost a mother or a child. From my heart to yours...a hug.
